Purveyors
of fine films since 1983
About
Videomatica
Videomatica.ca
now offers DVD rentals by mail
to ALL of Canada!!!
Over the years, Videomatica has been asked numerous times to service other areas with our unique selection of hand-picked films.
Sadly, for many years, it just wasn’t practical for us to do this.
But
now, no matter whether you just live too far away from us in the Lower Mainland or
you're anywhere in Canada, you will be able to access the select film
collection for which we've been famous for since 1983 (see below).
No longer do you have to wade through endless amounts of unwatchable crap that should never have been made and that you’d never want to see, as is the case with many video stores and DVD online rental operations (unless it's crap we like, of course). You will have access to our eclectic selection for one fixed monthly price without late fees, fixed due dates or shipping charges.
Delivered right to your
mailbox!
When you’ve finished watching a DVD you simply pop it in the nearest Canada Post mailbox and once it’s returned to us, we send you another one from the list of films on your request list. Sound good?
Go to Videomatica.ca if you want to take advantage of this service. You’ll soon find out
why Videomatica.ca will be the choice for discerning DVD rental by mail fans in
Canada.
ABOUT
VIDEOMATICA
In
1983, Videomatica opened on West 4th Ave in Kitsilano as
Vancouver’s specialty video store where it has flourished ever since. We are
internationally recognized for offering the best in foreign films, silents, classics,
musicals, indies, docs, animation, cult, TV series and gay &
lesbian cinema as well as all the good new releases.
We
were the first store in Western Canada to offer DVD rentals, the first in Canada
to offer public search terminals and the first to create a virtual video store
for film buffs with our rentals website for in-store customers and our sales web site.
The rentals site for in-store customers allows viewing of the front and back covers of the film boxes and lets reservations be made online 24 hours a day (for pickup at the store). The sales site showcases an enormous selection and expands our sales customer base around the globe to customers in places as far away as Costa Rica and Japan. Now, DVD rentals-by-mail fans in Canada have this same convenience at our third website. And our websites have no line-ups and are open all the time!
The
media, the community and visiting film industry luminaries alike have recognized
our commitment to quality films and satisfying customer demand for them.
Through the years, the Vancouver Sun, The Province, the
National Post, the Georgia Straight, the Westender, and the
Vancouver Courier have all singled out Videomatica year after year as the
city’s best video store.
“There’s
no store like it anywhere in the world”
Vancouver
Sun
“This
store is serious about video, taking the medium to new heights”
The
Province
“In
terms of the range and the quality of films available for rent, Videomatica
wins, hands down.
Indeed it is
reputed to be one of the best stores of its kind in the world.”
Georgia Straight
"The
best alternative video store in North America. Run, don't walk to this movie
buff's paradise."
National Post
“Videomatica
caters to film buffs whose interests span every conceivable cinematic
genre…It’s a collector’s paradise”
Vancouver
Magazine
“Videomatica
stocks the best of independent, foreign, and classic flicks”
The Westender
Hollywood has also taken notice. Videomatica is the video store of choice for film types
visiting Vancouver, including Johnny Depp, David Bowie, Jodie Foster, Kurt
Russell, Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson, Colin Firth, Terence Stamp, Kirsten Dunst and
a veritable galaxy of other stars and industry insiders.
“More
foreign films than in New York or Los Angeles.”
Jodie
Foster
In an effort to recognize independent films and performances that often slip
beneath the Hollywood radar, Videomatica began our annual “Videomaticademy
Awards”. The only two-time
winner, Terence Stamp, won for Best Actor in The Limey and Best
Actress in Priscilla: Queen of the Desert. Terence says Videomatica
is one of his favourite things about Vancouver.
