Diebold isn't the name of the latest Bruce Willis movie (though maybe it should be). It's actually the company that manufactures the notorious voting machines for American presidential elections. In the wake of the controversial 2000 election results, cheery grandmother/political journalist Bev Harris started asking questions about Diebold and how secure and reliable their machines really are. The results are startling and a small group of British filmmakers jumped aboard to follow Harris and co. in their investigation. What they uncover are numerous cases of voting miscalculations, discarded votes, and doctored results. How do they find these? Expert interviews, careful research, and some good old-fashioned dumpster-diving. Throw in a Finnish computer wiz and it's all part of hacking democracy. --JA
