Welcome to the Videomaticademy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

The Alternative Oscars® Contest is Videomatica.ca's way of celebrating those films, actors and directors that just aren't getting their due recognition during awards season.

There are eleven categories, ranging from Best Picture to Worst Picture to the coveted Best Non-Human Actor. It's up to Canadians from across the country to decide who wins. Just for voting, you are eligible to win some great entertainment-related prizes!

Instructions: Please complete the Alternative Oscars® Ballot, picking a winner for each category and entering your information on the bottom of the page.

Rules and Regulations

All contest entrants must be over the age of 18. This contest is open to all residents of Canada, except for employees of Videomatica, Videomatica.ca, The Vancouver Courier, Classic Rock 101, Bistrot Bistro, Cinemark, Festival Cinemas, Noodle Box, Pacific Cinematheque, Trattoria Kitchen, Biz Books, The Celluloid Social Club, Pacific Theatre, First Weekend Club, Showbiz Monkeys, Wild Rice, Geist, Hart Work Graphics, NovaCurrent Creative Solutions, and VIFC. All ballot entries must be complete with full name, e-mail address, and phone number. One entry per person. Incomplete or duplicate entries will be discarded. In order to be eligible for Videomatica.ca complimentary subscriptions, a valid credit card will be required for verification purposes. Winners will be selected randomly on March 8th, 2010, and contacted by e-mail.

Contest winners and voting results will be announced on March 8th, 2010!

*Passes will be mailed to winner based upon arrival of passes at station. If Passes do not arrive in time for standard mail delivery, winner will be notified over the phone that they have the option of picking up the pass in person or forfeit that particular screening pass. Movie Screening dates the winner is not able to attend will not be made up with additional prizes or passes. Passes are for date specific screening only and can not be used for regular screenings unless specified on pass (in the case of a Run of Engagement Pass). All passes must be exchanged for tickets at the box office prior to screening and do not guarantee admission as theatres are typically overbooked to ensure capacity crowd.
